10 Things I miss about my Island

(...not in any particular order, by the way)

1. 568ml of creamy, cold Guinness (x10)
2. Ballycotton
3. Sitting on Blanan, Cape Clear in a F8 SW, heavy mist and a big passage of birds
4. My old car
5. Sky Sports on a hungover Saturday morning
6. The Bale
7. The sight and smell of freshly cut grass
8. The smell of the sea
9. Clean air
10. The thrill of a twitch

Interesting addition to the site carmo my old man. Some intersting ones in there but numbers 2,6,and 7 are all inexorably linked ( or did you realise this ??).One of the things i miss the most are our saturday afternoon strolls about the city, chuckling to ourselves like the village idiots. If only they knew ...
Still though, today in auckland is about 21 degrees and sunny as hell.Gotta hate the winter.

Well boys, PGP is on my Irish list already (!!!) so I am not too worried, thought it might be a blocker for a while yet but seeing as there were 2 in Britain recently, it was expected. When did that turn up? Yesterday?

I figured if I mentioned that Langer I'd never hear the end of it. Galley was due to be menitoned but it will appear in my next top 10 list!! Was torn between Galley and Blanan...close call but the best Cory'sand Great Shear passage I've seen was off Blanan..never seen them off Galley!!

Hope all is well, am off to bed..

Pee, only realised the connection when you said it about B'cotton and the Bale!! Made me laugh that did. Ah, the memories, long may they last..

Hi Mark,
Which Pacific Golden Plover did you get? This one showed really well, strange to get my first for Ireland a month after getting my first ever in the UK!

Pariah, hard luck on the tern. I;m sure it'll be worth the trip back up there this weekend as it should stay around.

H, congrats ya bas!!! Nice wan mate, glad you got it.

Am off birding in the morning hoping to get shots of Mongolian Plover, Red-necked stint and maybe a grey-tailed tattler if there are close in. 5 am start though....ouch.
