Aaaahhhh, Denny...

While listening to to JW on RTE Radio 1 last night, I got a call from the "other" Irish guy at work to call over to his place for a bit of breakfast. I was curious as to what he meant. Then, words were uttered that were as welcoming as the first rains in a drought...a fry. Yup, Denny's sausages, black and white pudding and rashers. Jazuz but it was good. I haven't had anything like that since I came here and the smell alone made my mouth water. Although it wasn't Clonakilty pudding, it tasted like manna from heaven. Delicious. A bit of McCambridge and that cheese of all cheeses, Kilmeaden, made the culinary experience a night to remember. We followed that by watching the Life of Brian and abit of Little Britain. All in all, an enjoyable evening.

Also had the pleasure of listening to some native Irish waders on the radio. It was great to hear JW waxing lyrical about Black-tailed godwits. When I closed my eyes, I almost felt like I was there.

A trip to Kunijima this afternoon yielded little in the shape of birds, but a couple of Mongolicus gulls made the day. It was a stunning day, clear, no clouds, not too cold (5 degrees C) and very quiet. I rattled off a few photos but the RAW data (the format I take bird photos with) is not being recognized by the program I use to edit them. Damn it all to hell but I'm too tired tonight to solve it. Therefore, you are all spared the horrible sight of feathery creatures on the blog today. Instead, you get some shots of Kunijima. It was a stunning day.

Carmo's birds: Bull-headed Shrike, Reed Bunting, Black-faced Bunting, Meadow Bunting, Mongolicus Gull* and Oriental Turtle Dove.

Well, I didn't go for the Baikal meself, which shows how much mass I have in it! Denis got it today, and even heard that Muller was up there!
Talking of those who usually don't twitch...Graham went for the Carrigaline Franklin's today! He didn't get it, though (Col, don't give up on it yet!)

Correction to the above, Muller never went for the teal. It seems that anyone who hasn't been has left it too late, no sign today! Just as well I wasn't too bothered.
Carmo: don't eat all de Taytos at once, keep a bag for Hokkaido.

Carmo my leathery old friend,
Jesus, taytos, kilmeaden and now a bloody fry ???? Christ you've got m,e frothing at the crotch at the very mention of the D word. Its been many moons since we've had such a taste of home. The lads (bar Bobby) have now departed for South Africa,Oz,and the U.S.A ,and so begins the greatest test of my will power. With my transport taken,i face a month of no green,no waves, and very little of any real interest. In my boredom i have already mastered an apple crumble recipe and driven a quad bike THROUGH a fence at high speed.Cant wait to see what will happen tonight.Enjoy your trip.

Well anti-american politics are particularly in vogue at the moment.
And statistics can be used to prove something thats even remotely true!...17% of all people know that!
;)
If you really want a life altering experience try and get to a lecture of Dr. Carl Djerassi. Now there is a true genius and renaissance man.
Listening to him will give you entirely new insight into the human condition and our social structure and social mindset.
I was at a 3hour lecture of his some months ago and i swear to god we all just wanted him to keep on talking.
