Having uprooted my scientific arse from Cork (Ireland) to Japan in 2005, now, 2008, I find myself back in Ireland. Due to the overwhelming demand from my avid readers, I shall (try at least) post some rants on living in Ireland and how different the birding is compared to birding in Japan :) Thanks for listening

nice photos mate - i'm sure that the gull is a ring-billed non? gonna have to catch up soon on de msn tingy - its been ages! you're never feckin' on it man! too busy getting back rubs and the like. hope its getting better anyway - probly all the work and not enuff birding i reckon! cheers the noo, as they say in ecosse, probly.

I missed a Fea's off the Bridges by ONE MINUTE on Sat!!!!! Feck sake! We were the last 2 Irish birders there, and had just arrived back in the car park only to hear shouts from the Belgians!
Missed another (or same) one there yesterday due to having left for home also. Still drained mentally as a result.
Col, the gull looks like a Black-tailed Gull, not a Ringer, at least on my monitor.
Owen: did you sign your pact with Lucifer in blood, or was it just a verbal agreement?

Hell i didnt even want one of them....i was looking for swinhoes and bulwers!!!
I can see myself being cursed only to see Fea's for the rest of my days whilst others see albatrosses and little shears!!

Boys, it's a sad day when some Jackeen comes down to our hallowed Munster turf to pick off 4 Fea's!!! Col, your forgiven because you're Scottish. H, you are correct on the ID, Col must have had his glasses off. I felt for ya H, I really did. That must have hurt like hell. Well, there's still plenty of time, the only thing for it is to plant your ass on the Bridges for a few days at least and bird from first light until dark or else just go seawatching with Foley as he seem to always get one :) Nice won by the way Owen, must have felt good ya bas.

Good to see that my 'search image' of Black-tailed Gull would allow me to pick one out over here. Was that your first one? Can't recall hearing if you had them prior to this.
Your comments about Owen don't apply to days when I am seawatching with him: Balearic Shear the best I've had when he was there.
Owen: I could cry for you being 'condemned' to see Fea's...such condemnation would be nice!
